The youth award was set up as a permanent memorial for Brian Smith, the Lion's club's past president who dedicated his life to helping young people.

Jasmini won her positive attitude despite battling with a brain tumour and spinal cancer.

She has regular cycles of oral chemotherapy, operations and numerous hospital visits which are on-going.

Her teacher said despite everything she had been through, including losing her hair, she has shown immense courage and maintained her sense of humour.
