Bravery award for Bognor airman's unit

A former Bognor Regis Community College pupil was among those service personnel honoured for their bravery.

Raymond Scott-Ragless (33), pictured right, is serving in Afghanistan with The Chinook Force which won The Best Unit prize in the first Sun Military Awards.

The unit's helicopters feed, supply and even rescue thousands of troops seven days a week. The teams bravely defy enemy ground fire to reach their comrades.

They received their award from the prime minister, Gordon Brown, and TV presenter Konnie Huq who travelled to Afghanistan.

Raymond was photographed in The Sun among a group of servicemen with the PM.

Raymond joined the RAF in 1996 and has risen to the rank of corporal. He is an aircraft electrician who is usually based at Odiham in Hampshire. He went out to Afghanistan in November.

His award has delighted his family, who live in Bognor, and are proud of his achievements.
