Break-ins and thefts in Wealden reported

RURAL break-ins and thefts in Wealden continue.

Police say two men in a transit van were seen in the Burnt Oak Road area of Crowborough. They tried to remove scrap from a property, were asked to leave but came back later.

The vehicle is described as a transit tipper with a white cab, a black body and aluminium height extension on the back.

BT cable in Mark Cross was removed from an underground junction box between July 6-7. A day earlier someone stole a York weights bench and two lifting bars from a barn on Eridge Lane, Rotherfield. In the same area batteries were stolen from a vehicle parked in a locked building between July 3-5.

Between July 6-7 farm buildings were broken into in Church Street, Fletching. Items stolen included copper pipes and a copper cylinder.

A large amount of builders’ tools were stolen from a property in Lye Green, Crowborough from July 1-4.

Thieves climbed up a ladder to steal a jewellery box through an upstairs window in Coopers Green, Uckfield on July 1.

A white and silver Hi-Lux pick-up vehicle was hanging around farms in Danehill and Crowborough while the driver tried to sell new driveways.

On July 18 thieves broke into a shed at Coggins Mill Lane and stole a lawn mower and strimmer. The day before a quad bike was stolen from a locked garage on Green Lane, Crowborough and later dumped and stripped.
