BREAKING NEWS: Aquarena tower decision meeting delayed

A MEETING to determine a planning application for a 21-storey development on the old Aquarena site has been postponed.

Worthing Borough Council has delayed the meeting, planned for April 15, after developer Roffey Homes asked for more time to consider ‘detailed feedback’.

A spokesman said: “The future of the Aquarena site has ignited a large amount of debate in recent months, with both Worthing Borough Council and Roffey Homes receiving a great deal of correspondence on the subject.

“In light of the detailed feedback, including that received from the Coastal Design Panel, Roffey Homes has requested that the April 15 planning committee meeting be deferred until a later date.

“The Council have agreed, since both members and officers feel that it is important to ensure that the right solution is brought forward for this key regeneration site.”

The new date will be publicised when the matter is ready to bring back to the committee.

The news comes just a day after Roffey’s 11-storey block plan for the corner of Grand Avenue was refused by the committee.
