BREAKING NEWS: Attempted-murder accused appears in court

A BOGNOR Regis man charged with the attempted murder of a Littlehampton woman appeared in court today (Wednesday, August 14).

Keith Leahy, 40, a fork lift truck driver, of Orchard Way, Bognor, has been charged with the attempted murder of a 48-year-old woman at an address in Hollist Chase, Littlehampton.

The incident took place on Monday morning (August 12).

Four police cars, two ambulances and an air ambulance rushed to the scene to treat the woman, shortly after 10am.

Local resident Lisa Barnard saw the aftermath of the incident.

She said: “There were police everywhere. The helicopter flew over our house and landed in the playing field in Olliver Acre. It was a quite a shock because the estate is normally so quiet.”

The woman was transported to Worthing Hospital by land ambulance.

Leahy, wearing a blue coat, appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court today, accompanied by members of his family.

Magistrates committed him to appear at Lewes Crown Court, on August 28. He will be remanded in custody until then.

The woman remains in Worthing Hospital with cuts to her body, but is in a stable and non-life threatening condition.
