It landed at Homefield Park, Worthing, at around 2.30pm, as part of a test landing operation ahead of the Olympic torch arriving in Worthing on Monday (July 16).
Homefield Park, in Homefield Road, is the helipad for Worthing Hospital.
A spokesman for the hospital confirmed there were not any patients being brought in by chinook.
