BREAKING NEWS: Crews tackling fire at Plumpton College

Crews from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a fire at Plumpton College this morning (Thursday, July 30).

Firefighters were called to the scene, on Ditchling Road, at around 7.30 this morning to reports of a barn fire at the college.

Five crews are currently at the site, including one fire engine from Barcombe, the water carrier and fire engine from Uckfield, and one fire engine and the water carrier from Burgess Hill, from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

A barn measuring approximately 130 metres by 25 metres containing around 500 bales of hay is alight.

Firefighters are using hose reels and ground monitor to tackle the fire.
