BREAKING NEWS: Man dies in house fire in St Leonards

A man has died in a house fire in St Leonards in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, September 6).

Firefighters from Bohemia Road, The Ridge and Battle fire stations were called to an address at Hollington Old Lane at around 2am.

On arrival, the crews found a fire in a room on the first floor of the property.

Firefighters got a man out the property, but sadly he was pronounced dead a short while later.

Sussex Police say the man’s next of kin have been informed.

A joint investigation between East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and Sussex Police is now underway.

A spokesperson for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “The cause of the fire is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

“The thoughts of East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
