The crash, on the A259 Bexhill Road at its junction with Harley Shute Road, involves one car.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it had three fire engines at the scene, and police and paramedics are also in attendance.
The call came in at 5.30pm today (September 12), and the fire service said a person is trapped as a result of the collision.
Sussex Police has closed off the road.
For eastbound traffic there is a diversion up Harley Shute Road, but westbound traffic is having to turn back the way it came.
Expect long delays.
Stagecoach said its number 99 bus service is delayed due to the road closure.
