BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Woman airlifted to hospital after serious accident on A27

A woman has been airlifted to hospital with '˜life-threatening injuries' after a serious accident on the A27 near Castle Goring today (Saturday).

The road has been closed between the A27 West Sussex and Arundel Road in Durrington after a two-car collision at 9.18am today.

The woman, 56, of Brighton, was taken to RSCH Brighton with life-threatening injuries, according to Sussex Police.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said, “Around 9.18am this morning a road traffic collision occurred around the westbound junction of The Coach and Horses pub.

“A blue Ford Focus Estate travelling westbound has been in a collision with a brown Mini Cooper exiting the pub car park.

“The driver of the Mini, a female from Brighton, sustained potentially life-threating injuries and was taken to the RSCH in Brighton.

“The driver of the Ford Focus, a 33-year-old male from Portslade, was taken by ambulance to Worthing Hospital with leg injuries. His condition is stable.”

Emergency Services are still at the scene near The Coach and Horses pub for investigating purposes and aim to have the road opened by around 1.30pm.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call police on 101 quoting operation Durford or email [email protected].
