BREAKING NEWS: West Worthing fire exclusion zone ends

PEOPLE living in Friars Walk in West Worthing, can return to their homes, more than 24 hours after they were evacuated after a fire.

Today (Friday, December 3), 25 homes in Friars Walk were still within an exclusion zone set up after a fire at an industrial unit in the street.

Worthing Borough Council arranged emergency accommodation for families last night, as West Sussex Fire and Rescue wanted to keep people away from the site.

Yesterday (Thursday, December 2), 250 households were evacuated in the early hours of the morning, after fire caught hold at a car valeting business.

People were taken to a rest centre at nearby Worthing Leisure Centre, as there was a danger the acetylene cylinders on the premises might explode.

Rail services were also disrupted.
