BREAKING NEWS: Worthing car park stand-off ends

A MAN has been talked down from the top of a multi-storey car park in Worthing.

The man, believed to be aged in his 40s, was spotted around 12.15pm today (Friday, December 11) standing on railings overlooking Chatsworth Road at the top of the seven-storey car park in High Street.

He began shouting at police officers who tried to talk to him from ground level and officers closed Chatsworth Road, preventing cars and pedestrians from accessing the area and keeping workers inside offices.

A team of police officers made their way into the car park and on to the top level, where they spoke with the man for around one and half hours.

At around 1.45pm, he stood down from the railings and was escorted into the Chatsworth Road police station.

The road was then re-opened.
