I am quite shattered: as I have been gardening, everything is growing so fast, especially the weeds. It has been a pleasure though, because the azaleas are out in glorious bloom and every now and then a heavenly scent drifted by me as I tackled our rockery. I am pleased with the result and now I can concentrate on this column and the Parish Council Newsletter which is ready to be sent to the printers. Hopefully it will fall into your letterbox within the first two weeks of July or sooner. The Friends of St Georges held a wonderful evening last Saturday and Duncan, Gary and a few friends entertained followed by a sumptuous supper. All for £8.00 those of us who went had a thoroughly good evening. It was so lovely to catch up with people from the Village that had not been seen for quite a while the chatter over supper was incessant. If you missed it, do look out for another one in the future so that you to can have a wonderful evening and meet old friend or new ones.

A wonderful opportunity to see beautiful gardens locally.

MT Vessel are playing at the Rainbow Trout this evening at 8.30pm. We are spoiled. Gardens, Brass Bands and cream teas then an evening out listening to live music anyone would think we were on holiday.

Painting for Pleasure in Brede Village Hall at 9.30am followed at 7.30pm by

Wednesday 1 June: Pilates are with Laura in Udimore Community Hall at 9.15 and 10.15am. Brede Mother’s Union are not meeting this month as many members are going on the bus trip to Saville gardens. At 4pm the Alexander Technique is being shown in Udimore Community Hall.

Diabetes....an Epidemic. At Northiam Village Hall there will be a presentation by the doctors from Northiam and Broad Oak Surgeries. Diabetes is an increasing concern as more patients are diagnosed. It may be affecting your family or friends. The evening begins at 6-30 for a 7-00 start to hear the facts and have your questions answered.

Thursday 2 June: Pilates with Laura at 9.30am with another session at 7.30pm both in Udimore Community Hall. Stretch and Tone with Sally in Brede Village Hall at 9.30am.

Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th Birthday: You should all have received a yellow pamphlet, Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration in Broad Oak & Brede. If you have not please contact me ASAP. This is what’s going on. It will be in the column this week and next week

Monday 6 June: Brede Beavers & Cubs are hosting a Queen’s Tea Party & games from 5.15pm - 7pm and are inviting friends of the same age that do not belong to the group to the Scout Hut for the evening.

Tuesday 7 June: Brede Painting with Pleasure group will offer help to any budding artist to paint a picture today at 10am in Brede Village Hall. Take along your own paints, brushes and paper and have a go.

Country Buttercups Nursery School in the Scout Hut are having an Arts activity and Royal Picnic from 2pm - 3pm. Do visit them if you are interested in your child attending in September. Call 883000

Wednesday 8 June: Brede WI are having a Royal Tea Party for members at Udimore Community Hall 2pm - 4pm.

Thursday 9 June: Brede Friendly Circle have organised a coach outing to Saville Gardens in Royal Windsor park with a guided tour of the gardens and lunch. Then at Runnymead board a boat doing a Magna Carta talk and travel along the Thames to Windsor Castle. On the return boat journey enjoy a cream tea. Cost £35 inclusive of the above. Friday 10 June: Brede Farmers Market will have a Royal and Patriotic theme and Vocality will be performing at 10.30am.

Saturday 11 June: Brede School Summer Fete at the Recreation Ground

The Rainbow Trout will have the large screens on so that the televised activities in London including Trooping of the Colour can be seen. At 2pm Jimmy & the Jams are playing and cream teas are on offer, in the evening there is also live entertainment.

At the Red Lion the Home Band will be playing from 9pm

Sunday 12 June: Church Services in the morning and the Bells at St George’s Church will be rung in Honour of HM the Queen.

There is a Picnic in the recreation ground, 12.30pm - 4pm Mocking Jay duo will be entertaining and the Three Legs Brewery will have a stand.

Monday 13 June: These two events are in Brede Village Hall. Brede Community Club invites those over 50 to join them for a Royal Tea Party and to be entertained by Ruth 2pm - 4pm. This is a free event but you need to book as there only 100 places. Call 07850 987130 soon.

Brede Rainbow Guides will invite children 5yr - 7yr to join them for a Royal Tea party, fun & games evening 4.15pm - 5.15pm.

Tuesday 14 June: Methodist Church in Broad Oak invites all to a Royal Tea Party 2.30pm – 4.30pm Brede Scout Group will be inviting 10 - 14 year olds to join them in an evening of fun and camp fire activities. 7pm - 9pm at the Scout Hut in Stubb Lane.

The events that commemorate Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday cover all age groups in the Village. Please attend as we have been granted some money from Rother District Council and Brede Parish Council towards the Tea Party in the Village Hall and the Duo on the Recreation ground. Lets take advantage of the number of free parties around the Village and have a good time.

Thursday 16 June: Brede & Udimore Overseas Group Summer Lunch 1pm Udimore Community Hall. Two delicious Courses £9.50 (take your own bottle) All donations in aid of the four charities the Group support. Please contact Liz 01424 882657 or Judy 01424 882222 for tickets.

Saturday 25 June: the Friends of St Mary’s Church invite you to a Midsomer Murder which is being performed by a very talented local group. It is a 7pm start and weather permitting it will be an outside event at Udimore Community Hall. Take your own picnic and drink. It will be a fun evening including a raffle.

Tickets are £7.50 Teams of 6-8 are ideal, teams can also be made up on the day. Please let me know in good time if there is anything you would like put in the column.
