Remembering Ben: Last Saturday, I, with over 400 people were at St George’s Church to join in the celebration of Ben’s life. The Scout, Kenyan, Union, St George’s and the East Sussex (Martlets) Flags were flown from the rafters and the ‘Big Ben Omondi’ (you can make it happen) flag was on a pillar. Approximately 150 Scouts from East London and East Sussex lined both sides of the path from the Church to the gate in honour as his beautiful coffin engraved with animals from Kenya took it’s final journey. His Charity, a School for orphans can benefit from any donations at www.timurafiki.org. It was a lovely that so many people went to pay their last respects to an incredible young man and a wonderful tribute for Joanna, his wife, and the family to remember how well he was thought of by the Scouting fraternity and the community. The service was followed by a picnic in the recreation ground with music, it was the only place with the space for such a large crowd of people to eat comfortably.
