Elections: There was a low turnout for the Crime Commissioner votes last Thursday and I wondered if some of you have not yet registered as on June 23rd you will have a chance to vote Yes or No in the European elections. Please make sure you have a voting card if you have not received one then please contact Rother District Council immediately they will also have to be contacted quickly if you would prefer a postal vote is required phone 01424 787000

The next Parish Newsletter: is being set up and if you would like to mention what your group or society does please email s me above ASAP if you would like to advertise also contact me please so I can give details. The Parish Council would also appreciate a hand giving them out. If you like walking or if you have to walk for a medical reason you might like to help out 3 times a year.

Weather: We have had glorious sunshine today and for the past 2 days as well, the forecast Sunday had predicted rain for last Monday and Tuesday becoming cooler by the end of the week. We shall see tomorrow.

Friday 13 May: Yoga with Susan in Udimore Community Hall at 9.30am, WEA is at 11.30am.

Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall. Do go and find your weekly fresh items and search out those other unique goods only available at this market.

Saturday 14 May: Baby Ballet Classes with Emma are in Brede Village Hall at 10am.

Pentecost Sunday 15 May: the Birthday of the Church. Services are as follows: Father Anthony White conducts the Mass service at 9.00 am in St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the old Northiam Road, if you need to contact the Father his number is 01424 773125

At the Methodist Church in Broad Oak Mr Alan Hurrell will be taking this morning’s service at 10.30am. The Reverend Peggy Heim is the Pastoral Minister and she can be contacted on 01424 422350

Princess baby ballet with Emma present their debut show FROZEN at Brede Village Hall 12 – 1pm tickets are £5 children free. A chance to see their first term work and have your photo taken with Elsa & Anna characters. Money raised from ticket sales are going to Epilepsy Action.

Calling all Children Teddy Bear’s Fair 2pm – 4.30pm at St George’s Church Brede. Take along your Teddy Bears or Favourite soft toy all sizes welcome. Take along a grown up and enjoy a lovely afternoon with the fun of the fair. Help your Teddy to overcome the fear of heights with a special Zip wire from the top of the Church tower – earning their certificate and a badge for achieving this brave adventurous activity.

Monday 16 May: Age Uk East Sussex Brede Community Club will meet in Brede Village Hall at 10 .30am to begin their day with coffee, games then lunch and entertainment in the afternoon. The day can be split into two now, so if you only wish to go for the morning or the afternoon you may do so, or you may go and have lunch and stay but you must book this in advance. They have a mini bus now so transport is not a problem; for more information please contact Mrs Maureen Distin on 07850 987130.

The Guiding section meet in the small hall of Brede Village Hall; the Rainbows have spaces, also Julie has mentioned that many of their girls are moving up to Brownies in September, they welcome girls aged 5-7 years, on Mondays during term time from 4.15-5.15pm, girls can visit to see if they like Rainbows first. The Brede Scout sections are all held in the Scout Hut Stubbs Lane, Beavers welcome Boys and girls from 6 years old they meet from 5.15pm to 6.15pm. Contact Cubs are 8-10½ years old and meet from 6.30 – 8.00pm there are also vacancies for children to join, the Contact is Colin Ward 01424 852413

Wednesday 1st June: Diabetes....an Epidemic. Northiam Village Hall. A presentation by the doctors at Northiam and Broad Oak Surgeries. Diabetes is an increasing concern as more patients are diagnosed. It may be affecting your family or friends. Come for 6-30 for a 7-00 start to hear the facts and have your questions answered.

Thursday 16th June: Brede & Udimore Overseas Group Summer Lunch 1pm Udimore Community Hall. Two delicious Courses £9.50 (take your own bottle) All donations in aid of the four charities the Group support. Please contact Liz 01424 882657 or Judy 01424 882222 for tickets.

Saturday 25 June: the Friends of St Mary’s Church invite you to a Midsomer Murder which is being performed by a very talented local group. It is a 7pm start and weather permitting it will be an outside event at Udimore Community Hall. Take your own picnic and drink. It will be a fun evening including a raffle.

Tickets are £7.50 Teams of 6-8 are ideal, teams can also be made up on the day.
