Do you know: I have a lovely area to look out on as I write the column, at last the sun has appeared and ahead of me are bare branched trees and some evergreen, one beautiful magnolia is just about to burst open. There is a Collared Dove strutting around the lawn and the blue tits, green finches and a marsh tit are busy taking food from the bird feeders, it really looks spring like. The wind though is bitter as I have been out in it. The daffodils around the Village look really splendid and certainly brighten up the area on the dull days, as does the mass of primroses out this year, I do not remember seeing them so prolific. I am sure we all appreciate their beauty, such a shame that some thoughtless people are still dropping litter to mar some of the places.

Good Friday 25 March: The watch continues from 9am, then at 10am stations of the Cross at St Georges Brede.

Yoga with Susan in Udimore Community Hall at 9.30am, WEA is at 11.30am.

Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall, last week I ventured in and bought the most beautiful hand made card for a wedding I am attending shortly and the local apple juice from Peter and some vegetables. The hand made Chocolate looked incredibly tempting it is all wrapped up so prettily. There are other stalls to tempt one, so do go and see for yourself what will temp you.

Continuing at St George’s Church there will be a celebration of the Lords Passion, Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion at 2pm.

Holy Saturday 26 March: At St George’s Brede at 8pm There will be a Service of Light, Renewal of Baptismal Promises and sung Eucharist.

Ballet Classes are in Brede Village Hall at 10am.

In the Rainbow Trout Total Mayhem will be entertaining at 9pm,

Sunday 27 March Easter Sunday: – Happy Easter Readers I hope the weather is good this weekend as I know many will be taking the chance to meet up with their families.

Church Services are as follows: Father Anthony White conducts the Mass service at 9.00 am in St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the old Northiam Road, if you need to contact the Father his number is 01424 773125

At the Methodist Church in Broad Oak Mr Alan Hurrell will be taking the service at 10.30am. The Reverend Peggy Heim is the Pastoral Minister and she can be contacted on 01424 422350.

Monday 28 March: Yoga in Udimore community Hall at 10am.

Age Uk East Sussex Brede Community Club will be closed for Easter – back next week. All the other groups are closed today too. The Uniformed groups are back after the Eater holidays.

Tuesday 29 March: Pilates with Laura at 9.15am in Udimore Community Hall. Followed by another session at 10.15am.

The Brede Painting with Pleasure Group meet at 9.30am in Brede Village Hall Brede Parish Council Meet at 7.30pm in the small hall in Brede Village Hall.

Quiz Night in the Rainbow Trout entry is £1.50 per person and hot food is available for an extra £5 per person which will be determined on Monday 28th as this is a Bank holiday you may wish to contact them before this. They would strongly advise booking your table and they require numbers for food at least 24 hours in advance so they can ensure sufficient supplies to feed everyone. Please phone 01424 882031 ASAP

Future Events

Saturday 16 April: there will be a concert by the Regency Singers at 2.30 pm. at the Methodist Church in Broad Oak. No admission charge but donations welcome for church and refurbishment funds.

Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebrations, begin with Watch Commander Chris Sands lighting of the Beacon on Thursday 21 April in the evening, time to be confirmed) there will be food and drinks available in or outside the Parish Room from Gary of the Red Lion and the Bell Ringers will be ding donging away as well. There may be other things going on but it is still a work in progress, however please put the date in your diary to go and enjoy the evening. (an all age activity)

Talent Evening: A new date has been arranged for this event – Friday May 20 in the Sedlescombe village hall, at 7pm . We expect to see singers , dancers, jugglers , musicians , in fact all types of entertainment are welcome to join in from the local and surrounding area. Places will be limited to allow for a fair opportunity for all taking part. There is no fee to enter and there will be a £100 awarded to the winner and runner up prizes too. Professional sound system and engineer will be available. If you would like to take part then please contact Jean Dann on 01424 882438 for further details, timings and to book your place.
