Parish Magazine: I have noticed some of the times in the Parish Magazine are incorrect and also many of the clubs finish the second week of December and do not return until the first or second week of January. Please check with your own group or the groups Chairman’s or Secretary’s for correct times and dates.

The gremlins also got to work on this column last week, hopefully all will match up this week.

Brede Primary School: Congratulations to the teachers and students for the very high standard attained in the recent phonics screening check. They are now in the top 5% of all the country.

Brede Village Hall: is now looking very festive so It is hoped that all who use the hall will enjoy the decorations. Grateful thanks to Maggie Sandra and Beryl Jenkins who gave up a couple of ours last Saturday to help me. If you have decorations especially baubles that you will not need after this Christmas please donate them to the Village Hall as some of the decorations on the tree are borrowed for this year only.

Brede Bellringers: have a tree decorated in lights of Love in memory of a loved one or for a special occasion for just £1 a light will be lit on your behalf. please contact Andrew Burchett you can contact him at Brede Farmers Market or at his home, the address is in the November Parish Magazine. Proceeds are split between the Church, the Christmas floodlights, and the Hand Bell restoration fund. They were rung for a short while at last week’s Farmers Market.

Friday 4 December: Yoga is being held in Udimore Community Hall at 9.30am. Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall and as I’ve mentioned above things happen at the market unexpectedly; including new stalls and returning ones. You will have to venture there and find out for yourself. In the afternoon at 3.30pm or just after, all preschool and primary school children from Broad Oak, Beckley, Peamarsh and Udimore are invited to go with their parents to look at the Christmas Tree display in all its glory and to have refreshments in St George’s Brede.

The Festive Fun Quiz and light supper is this evening at 7pm in the Church Parish Room. Please be prompt or there before that time. £8.00 each, contact Sue Orchard 01424 883322 to book your team place (up to six per table) Take your own beverage.

Brede Short Mat Bowling members will meet at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall.

Saturday 5 December: St George’s Church Christmas Tree Festival – the theme this year is Colours of Christmas and will be very colourful and interesting. There will also be stalls selling a variety of goodies a tombola, raffle and a cake stall. Mulled wine and a mince pies. Do support these local events as it is excuse to meet friends and those you are yet to know, it also will help to maintain the wonderful historical Church of ours for future generations.

Brede’s Social Dance takes place at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall, I hope they have found someone to play music for them otherwise this will be the last dance in the Village Hall and that would be a shame as so many people attend. Please contact me or John May if you can help.

Sunday 6 December: The Church Services are as follows: Father Anthony White conducts the Mass service at 9.00 am in St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the old Northiam Road, if you need to contact the Father his number is 01424 773125

At St George’s Church the Sung Eucharist starts at 9.30am Further information on all the weekly services in St George’s can be found in the December /January Parish Magazine. The Christmas Tree Festival Continues from 11am until 3.30pm then The Christingle Service takes place, it is a wonderful event for families and this will be followed with a Festive Tea. At the Methodist Church in Broad Oak at 10.30am Mrs Chris Jones will conduct the service. The Pastoral Minister is the Reverend Peggy Heim and she can be contacted on 01424 422350.

The Guiding section meet in the small hall of Brede Village Hall; the Rainbows meet from 4.15- 5.15pm, they welcome girls aged between 5-7 years, Julie Piper can be contacted on 01424 883464 or mobile 07863599537. Tuesday 8 December: Pilates at 9.15am in Udimore Community Hall. Followed by another session at 10.15am. The Knitters and Natters heve closed for the Christmas period and will be back in January. The Brede Painting for Pleasure Group are having a Christmas lunch at the Red Lion Brede, I am sure they will have a delicious lunch.

Wednesday 9 December: Pilates are in Udimore Community Hall at 9.15 and 10.15am. Brede Women’s Institute are having their Christmas meeting and party tea at 2.00pm in Brede Village Hall.

Thursday 10 December: Pilates 9.30am with another session at 7.30pm both in Udimore Community Hall. Stretch and Tone with Sally in Brede Village Hall at 9.30am.

Friday 11 December: Yoga is held in Udimore Community Hall at 9.30am. Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall, following is the Short Mat Bowls Players at 7.30pm.

New Year’s Eve: the Rainbow Trout have a Disco booked and nibbles and snacks on the bar. Entry this year is free but they are not reserving tables so arrive early if you would like to grab yourself a seat.

Friday 15 & Saturday 16 January: Brede Players present PANTOSTEIN a scarily and silly phantomime in Brede Village Hall at 7.30pm. There is also a matinee at 2.30pm on the Saturday. Tickets are £7 adults &£3 per child Tickets available from Broad Oak Bakery or phone Julie Etches on 01424 882054

Thursday 21 January: Brede and Udimore overseas Group are holding thier Winter Lunch at 12.45pm in Udimore Community Hall. Tickets are £9.50 available from Lyn 01424 883040 or Stella 01424 883285 or Matt 01424 883285 Do go and enjoy a delicious two course hot lunch, ( take your own wine) and help them raise money for the four charities the group supports.

Saturday 23 January: the Friends of St George’s are holding their annual Quiz evening in Brede Village Hall at 7.30pm. Teams of up to eight, tickets are £10 including Fish & Chips. Book your table with Marion Firman 01424 751165

Saturday 6 February: (this was actually written by our 9 year old grandaughter) 1016 Rye Dance Centre are presenting one performance only ‘Super Duper’ at the White Rock Theatre at 3pm Tickets are £10 per person which includes a booking fee, concession and family tickets are also available from the White Rock Theatre Box Office they will also be available on the day at the door. The Young dancers have worked really hard and would appreciate your support at this event so that future generations have the chance to dance on the stage in public giving them confidence maybe to go on further in the future
