Flower Festival: 36th Brede Flower Festival was visited by 1216 people of all ages, some travelling long distances to see a fantastic display of Great Events in History.

The Aisle of St George’s Church had a hot air balloon and an aeroplane of flowers and foliage and the moon suspended from above with Cape Canaveral and a Rocket about to be launched underneath different forms of transport hung from the pew ends.In all 35 different topics were depicted and another 16 were beautiful arrangements. The skill of the arrangers was amazing for their design ideas and creative flower arrangements. Grateful thanks go to the many husbands who created the structures and accessories out of wood and other materials. This was a team effort on a massive scale for such a small Parish. Thanks must go to the army of helpers who gave up their time to marshal car parking, man the book, jam, raffle, plant, Granny’s Attic and cake stalls and supply cakes for it. Also to those who were stewarding in the Church and running trips up the Tower, and to those who helped with, coffee’s, teas, and lunches and those who baked for these. Thank you to all the businesses and Individuals who sponsored the event and everyone who visited Brede and our wonderful Church. Without So many people in the Parish helping this event could not happen. It’s a good place to have fun, see people you have not seen for a while and to make new friendships so next year mark in your diaries that at least half day in the August Bank Holiday you might like to help at the Church’s biggest fundraising event.

St George’s Church was built in the 11th Centaury and is a wonderful Historic building and as such takes a lot of money for it’s upkeep as does the work done in the Parish, so this event and others like the Christmas Tree Festival help.

Sad news: It saddens me to let you know that 2 members of our community have passed away, Tracy Apps who carried on despite he illness, our thoughts go to her parents and family and also Edward Piper again our thoughts are with the family. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.

Friday 4 September: Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall. Every week there is a chance to buy local produce for the weekend or week ahead, Buy a coffee or tea and support Brede Friendly Circle who give their takings to a local Charity annually.

Saturday 5 September: Brede Big Steam Engines are open from 10am – 4pm in Water works Lane Brede. It also includes a war time bunker. An enjoyable place to visit for all the family.

The Village Dance takes place in Brede Village Hall at 7.30pm. Enjoy the variety of music and different ballroom dances that can be done, and join in the sequence dancing. Half way through the evening stop for refreshments which are always available.

Sunday 6 September: The Church Services are as follows: Father Anthony White conducts the Mass service at 9.00 am in St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the old Northiam Road, if you need to contact the Father his number is 01424 773125

The Methodist Church Service in Broad Oak is at 10.30am and Mrs Drina Hampson will be taking the service this morning. Visitors are welcome at all the Churches.

Monday 7 September: 4pm Age Uk East Sussex - Brede Community Club begins at 10.30am – 3.30pm in Brede Village Hall.News, Jigsaws and exercises with Zena start the day followed by Ruth singing. Uniformed groups - Are closed for the summer holidays but all will be back in September. If you wish your child to join; then you will find the contact details below.The Guiding section meet in the small hall of Brede Village Hall; the Rainbows meet from 4.15- 5.15pm, they welcome girls aged between 5-7 years, the Brownies meet from 5pm – 6.30pm for girls 7-11 years old. Tuesday 8 September: Brede Paint with Pleasure meet in Brede Village Hall at 9.30am. The Trinity Methodist Church, Broad Oak, would like to thank those who replied to their recent questionnaire asking what you would like from them; and those who attended their Open Day. They were quite pleased at the response and will introduce activities and events as and when their plans for refurbishment allow. Initially they are restarting “Knitters and Natters” Today at 10.30am in the Methodist Church in BroadOak. They area friendly group for those who like to do their own craft activity. Go along and take your knitting, sewing or any craft you enjoy with refreshments and a jolly good natter.

Brede Players are holding auditions at 7.00pm in the Community Hall on the Recreation Ground in Broad Oak for those who wish to take part in their new production; ‘Pantostein,’ which will be a scarily silly pantomime. Wednesday 9 September: Pilates are in Udimore Community Hall at 9.15 and 10.25am. WI has an open meeting as their speaker Ian Everest is talking about the Women’s Land Army it starts at 2pm in Brede Village Hall.

Thursday 10 September: Stretch and Tone is cancelled this week but Sally hopes to be back next week. Design with Flowers group meet today at 1.30pm in the Parish Room Waterworks Lane Brede, they will be doing and arrangement in a card or a picture frame. New members are always welcome. At 7.30pm Brede Friendly Circle meet in Brede Village Hall and the topic is Volunteering and Fostering at the Blue Cross Animal Charity in Northiam. Ladies do go and join in a warm welcome awaites you if you have not been before.and everyone is welcome.

Friday 11 September: Yoga is at 9.30am in Udimore Community Hall. Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall. WEA is in Udimore Community Hall at 11.30am.

Saturday 12th September: it is Sussex Historic Churches/Ride and Stride Day.Trinity Methodist, along with many other churches in the area, will be open between 10am and 5pm to welcome any cyclists and walkers. They would love to see anyone from the village and beyond who would like to call in and say hello and find out more about them.

Wednesday 16th September: The Methodist Church are staring a new monthly venture “Open Door” 2.30-4.30 pm. A relaxed tea time gathering, aimed initially at those of more mature years, but all ages welcome of course, with refreshments provided. They hope to have some activity or entertainment each time. Friday 17 September: Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall. Talent Night in SedlescombeWe are on the hunt for performers for the above event. Do you love to entertain? Then come and be part of the show to be held on stage inSedlescombe village hall from 7pm. There is noentry fee and performers from all areas are welcome but there are limited spaces to give everyone a fair chance to shine on stage. Professional sound person and system available to use. There is a £100first prize donated by Dorton Reclamation along with money prizes for the runners up. Audience tickets will be on sale soon at just £5,there will be a bar and food available through the evening, so pleasemark your diaries to either take part or come along to enjoy the event. All the following need booking: Friday 2nd October: The Rainbow Trout have their Brilliant Blues Brothers Tribute night with a 2 course meal. Singing all the favourites such as Soul-man and Tail feather, the Professional act will be entertaining you all night. They have played many famous venues around the country and it promises to be a great night. let them know as soon as you can!

Saturday 3 October: Brede WI Centenary Community Tea Party, 2.45 pm at Brede Village Hall. You are probably aware that 2015 is the centenary year of the Woman’s Institute. To mark this event locally Brede members are organising this special tea party for local friends and residents. Do come along to share the occasion, celebrate with us by enjoying a delicious afternoon tea and view the exhibition of local WI history and related items of interest. The friends of St Mary’s Church: Udimore invite you to a Murder Mystery evening performed by a very talented group. It will be held in Udimore Community Hall at 7pm and will include a fish and chip supper, take your own drink. This will take place in Brede Village Hall at 7.30pm Entry is £7.50 which includes a glass of wine, cheese and biscuits. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Sunday 11 October: Brede and Udimore Overseas Group are inviting you to an afternoon tea party from 3pm – 5pm in Udimore Community Hall. Entrance is free but donations are welcome to support their four charities. They do hope as many as possible will go along to enjoy the afternoon of fun quizzes and a raffle.
