Brede WI: represented at Buckingham Palace. Janet Romani was voted by members to attend the WI Tea Party at the Palace, she came dressed in the clothes she wore to our June meeting and told members of the Brede WI that about 7,000 women lined up outside to go in. They were allowed to walk around the grounds but were asked not to take photo’s of the Royal Party. She said the afternoon tea was sumptuous, Janet was thrilled with a little cake with a gold crown laid on top which she ate. Chairs were provided in the grounds to sit on and although the rain held off, the wind was bitterly cold and the glamorous hats did not stay on the wearer’s heads. Janet said it was a very memorable day. Actually Chris Sands our Station Officer and his wife Janice were asked by East Sussex Fire Service to attend the Queens Tea Party at Buckingham Palace. He wore his best fire fighters Uniform and Janice dressed for the occasion too, he also told me the food was sumptuous so as they both used the same word to describe the food they must be right.

Trinity, (next to the Primary School) has long been at the heart of the community; at one time 180 children attended its Sunday School, and over 500 local people are buried in its graveyard. In addition to the church, there is a hall, kitchen and several small rooms. We hope to update all the facilities, and open up to the wonderful views across Brede valley. BUT funds are not unlimited!
