Volunteers Needed: 1. Age UK E.S. Brede Day Care Centre urgently need volunteer drivers to pick up clients in time for a 10am start and take them home at 3pm on Mondays except Bank Holidays. 3.Could you be the next Editor of the Parish Magazine. You need to be computer literate, tactful and patient! Copies should be sent by the middle of the month giving a week or so to formulate the layout of the Magazine. You will need to be able to use publisher and be prepared to have this programme added to your computer. Advertising and associated artwork, printing, collating and distribution is all handled by others. Please contact Father Martin ASAP as above.

May Fair Madness Update from FOBS: Despite the rain the fair was generously attended and the overall turn out was very pleasing. It was enjoyed by all, especially the children. A massive ‘Thank You’ to all that attended, helped and supported the event.

Friday 15 May: yoga is at 9.30am in Udimore Community Hall. Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall, the Market traders will be pleased to show you and in some cases give you a taste of their merchandise before you buy it. I was grateful to top up my alternate weeks full shop this week with salad items and fruit which I forgot to buy. I also bought some fresh bread rolls, a doughnut and a chocolate eclair and Peter’s apple juice, and a pack each of wild boar and apple and wild boar bear and hop sausages. So as you can see there are a variety of stalls and there were others. Please support their venture. WEA is in Udimore Community Hall at 11.30am. Brede’s Short Mat Bowlers set up at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall.

2nd Anniversary at the Rainbow Trout for Paul & Tina and they are hoping the Village will help them celebrate. They have Mr Swing entertaining from 8.30pm and there will be nuts and snacks on the bar.

Saturday 16 May: Castle Water Wildlife Walk – a circular walk in fields and ditches watching wildlife around Camber Castle and visiting the birdwatching hide at Castle water. Meet at 1pm at Brede Lock, no booking is necessary, donations will be welcomed. The walk finishes at 4pm. There may be more information at www.susexwildlifetrust.org.uk

Sunday 17 May: the Church Services are as follows: Father Anthony White conducts the Mass service at 9.00 am in St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the old Northiam Road, if you need to contact the Father his number is 01424 773125 9.30am. The Family Eucharist will be celebrated at St George’s Church at 9.30am. Father Martin can be reached on 01424 883408. The service at the Methodist Church in Broad oak at 10.30am will be taken by Mrs L.A Gilchrist. Our Cricketers are playing away today, thier opponents are Northiam. The game will be played in their recreation ground at 2pm.

Monday 18 May: Age Uk East Sussex – Brede Community Club begins at 10.30am – 3.30pm. Today activities include the wordwheel and treasured memories. The entertainment is Mr and Mrs Sutton a popular couple with the group. Uniformed groups - The Guiding section meet in the small hall of Brede Village Hall the Rainbows meet from 4.15- 5.15pm, they welcome girls aged between 5-7 years, the Brownies meet from 5pm – 6.30pm for girls 7-11 years old. Tuesday 19 May: Pilates are in Udimore Community Hall at 9.15am Brede Painting for Pleasure group meet in Brede Village Hall at 9.30am. Pilates at 10.15 and Flamenco dancing at 11.30am both in Udimore Community Hall At the Scout Hut in Stubbs Lane 1st Brede Scouts meet from 7pm – 9pm. Any young person 10½ or over may join the group the contact is Andy Bishop 07833065028 The Rainbow Trout are hosting the first of the boules matches tonight at 7pm Last years team has signed up and they say it would be great to show them some support if you are able. There will also be Bingo tonight.

Thursday 21 March: Pilates at 9.15am in Udimore Community Hall. Sally is in Brede Village Hall at 9.30am with Stretch and Toof booking clerk would be to answer all enquiries for the Hall, through emails, mobile phone, Facebook etc. The clerk will be expected to arrange viewings of the hall and its facilities and keep the Hall booking diary. It also involves the monitoring of the payments and checking of the Hall after events and liaising with cleaner to ensure the Hall is kept in ne. The National Trust have their talk at 2pm.

St Mary’s Community Hall Booking Clerk Udimore Community Hall is looking for a booking clerk for their very successful and popular village meeting place. The position good order. The job would suit a local person with personal and administrative skills. They will be expected to be a member of the Management committee who they will report to. Rye & Winchelsea Rotary Club 17th Annual Walk: Their annual walk on May 24th 2015 starts from Phillips and Stubbs offfice in Rye (entry forms available there) on that date from 9am – 10am. Groups and Individuals are invited to take part in the walk for the Rotary Club’s nominated Charities. Rye Hospital and St Michaels Hospice, while retaining 50% of what they raise for their own Charity or good cause. Register at [email protected] or on the day.

Saturday 30 May: is a busy day 10.30am – 12.30pm there is a Coffee Morning and Plant sale in Brede Parish Room in aid of Church funds. Buy the tickets and have a map to see 6 beautiful gardens in Udimore from Udimore Community Hall, here you will also find refreshments and stalls, children are free, they request no dogs please.

At 7.30 there will be a Grand Concert presented by Duncan Reid and Gary Marriott in St Georges Church Brede on belhalf of the Friends of St George. Tickets are available from Marion Firman 01424 751165 priced at £8.50 and will include a finger buffet and a glass of wine.

Brede Church Flower Festival: August Bank Holiday. Now in it’s 36th year; Sue Sturmey the Flower display co-ordinator wanted to do something that highlighted the major events in history which is why all the displays will be based around some of the world’s great historical and relious events. Last year comments such as ‘Stunning’, ‘Every year one runs out of praise for the displays’, ‘Spectacular – beautiful flowers, superbly arranged’ were some of the comments made by some of the 1,300 visitorswho came from afield as Australia, New Zealand.the USA, France, Germany, the Netherlands as well as Coventry, Oxfordshire, London,Essex and Hertfordshire. Sue has alist of themes for this year and would love to hear from anyone who would like to make a display or arrangement.
