Mayfair Madness: the Friends of Brede School are asking for help for this event. They need helpers on the day and soft toys for the Tombola, if you have them and cakes made to be delivered to the school on the Friday 24th when the FOBS have their meeting at 1.30pm. Buses: The Stagecoach bus time table is out for the beginning of May all the times have been confirmed by Stagecoach. Service 2 from Hastings to Tenterden/ Ashford. The first bus through Broad Oak 07.03 then Brede at 07.06 by the Red Lion It goes to Hastings Railway Station via the Conquest and there is a stop opposite Queens Road shopping Centre. It is hourly throughout the week including Saturday not Sunday when there is no service.

Return journey from Hastings Railway Station 09.00 Brede Red Lion at 09.36 and it reaches Broad Oak Crossroads at 09.39 and The Vine in Tenterden at 10.04 I hope this is helpful to you until you can get a timetable.

Rainbow Trout: throughout the Spring and Summer they will choosing a dish each week for you to enjoy for only a £5.00 eat in or order as a take away anytime from 5pm every Thursday.

Friday 1 May: Brede Farmers Market has been going for over 15 years now but the number of people attending has dropped and this is worrying the market stall holders most of whom are farmers of one sort or another. The wares they sell are unique and you will not find them anywhere else – something similar maybe but not the same and perhaps not as fresh. It is open from 10am–12noon every Friday so make it your place to call into this week and support your local farmers by shopping locally at the market in Brede Village Hall. WEA is in Udimore Community Hall at 11.30am. The short Mat Bowlers meet at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall.

Saturday 2 May: There will be a Village Dance in Brede Village Hall this evening at 7.30pm. The Steam Giants will be open today and Monday from 10am – 4pm in Waterworks Lane Brede, entrance is free.

Sunday 3 May: Father Anthony White is the preacher for Mass at St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the Old Northiam Road at 9am his contact number is 01424 773259 Father Martin invites you to the Family Eucharist at 9.30am in St George’s Church Brede. Father Martin can be contacted on 01424 883408. The Trinity Methodists meet at 10.30am, their Preacher is lead by arrangement this week. 6pm there is Evensong at St George’s Brede. I hope the weather is fine for the third of Brede Cricketer’s matches they will be playing against Burwash at 2pm this afternoon. I have not had any results from them yet, I hope when I do it will be good news.

Monday 4 May: Bank Holiday Monday Yoga is in Udimore Community Hall at 9.30am. Age Uk East Sussex -Brede Community Club will not meet today. To join or for more information contact Maureen the Coordinator by phoning 07850987130. All the uniformed groups will not meet this evening.

Tuesday 5 May: Pilates at 9.30am then at 10.15am followed by Flamenco dancing at 12 noon, all activities in Udimore Community Hall. Brede Painting for Pleasure begins at 9.30am in Brede Village Hall. Brede Scout group meet tonight at 7pm in the Scout Hut.

Wednesday 6 May: Pilates at 9am in Udimore Community Hall. Brede Mother’s Union meet at 2.30pm in the Parish Hall where Father Martin will be giving a talk about Academy schools.

Thursday 7 May: Pilates at 9am in Udimore Community Hall. Stretch & Tone 9.30am in Brede Village Hall with Sally.

Saturday 9 May: From 12 noon – 3pm Brede School have their Mayfair Madness event in the recreation ground and it will be the biggest and best so far. There will be huge giant inflatables, a barbecue, a pimms tent, a raffle and much more. It will be an afternoon of fun for families and they would appreciate your support. Explore the History of St Georges Brede with Dr John Crook FSA who will be giving an Architectural talk as the assembled walk around St George’s Church and grounds in Brede beginning at 3pm it will be followed by tea and cake. The cost will be £ 5.00 per person.

Diary Events: Future Flames from the Benefice of Brede with Udimore, Beckley and Peasmarsh on Saturday 23 May starting at 17.30 Family Fun through the evening there will be live music and entertainment. A Flame Procession. The Lighting of the Beacon. Put it in your Diary as it is not to be missed, there will be something for the whole family to enjoy. If you want to volunteer to help on the day please contact [email protected] as many hands make light work. Groups will also be asked if they would like to promote their group somehow on the evening. The letters will be coming out soon so please be ready and if you are a group be ready with your suggestion of what you might do. email [email protected]

The Flower Festival plans are coming together but as you are aware this is a festival over August Bank Holiday and many people are needed to man stalls and help with directing car parking etc if you can help with the latter please contact David Oliver 01424 882037 he will be pleased to hear from you. Sue Sturmey has the list of Great Events to be depicted with Floral arrangements Please contact her ASAP 01424 882544 If you do not want to do a big arrangement there are always the window sills and help will always be available.
