VOLUNTEER VILLAGE CLEAN UP: My grateful thanks go to all the following - Gavin, Phyllis, Jan, Alan, Caroline, and Rod who helped me pick up litter, Les, who made the path wider along Kingsland Hill by using his spade to remove the build up of soil etc; Jacqueline who made the coffee and washed up and lastly but not least to David who took 8 bags of rubbish to the Mountfield tip and some larger rubbish too. It was hoped that all of Broad oak and Brede could be covered but as you can read from above we were short of extra hands, so only some parts of our Parish were cleared of rubbish. Many hands make light work so when we repeat the exercise I hope more volunteers are available to help keep our beautiful bit of Sussex litter free. In the meantime if you see rubbish at the end of your drive or across the road, if it is safe to do so please bin it. This was not a Parish Council event but more and more will be put upon the Parish Councils as ESCC and Rother District have their budgets cut. Voluntary help will be asked for I have no doubt in the future for other jobs that they have to take on. Do go to the next Parish Council meeting on Tuesday March 31st not only to listen but to give them your views as well.
