Apology: I apologise for the glitch in the paper two weeks ago the following should have been in it. Unfortunately I am so sorry other events for the week were not publicised apparently gremlins were at work. Re - Community Infrastructure Levy - Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule - Notice of Consultation. Many of you will have seen Councillor Rod Came’s letter in the Observer letter page a few weeks back. It is a concern for many people especially those who have children who live and work in their village and cannot afford the house prices. If you feel this will have an effect on your family please contact Carl Maynard at Rother District Council and pass on your views. The Consultation period started on the 8th August 2014 and ends 26th September 2014. The PDCS and supporting documentations can be viewed on the Council’s website (www.rother.gov.uk/cil) and will be made available for public inspection at the following deposit points until 26th September 2014; Rother District Council Town Hall, Town Hall Square, Bexhill-on-Sea, TN39 3JX. (8.30am – 5.00pm Mon, Tues, Thurs, Wed 9.30am – 5.00pm & Friday 8.30-4.30pm). Battle Help Point, 6 Market Square, Battle, TN33 0XB. 8.30am – 4.30pm Mon, Tues, Thurs & Friday. Wed 10.00am – 4.30pm. Rye Help Point, 30a High Street, Rye, TN31 7JG. 9.00am – 5.30pm, Mon, Tues, Thurs, Wed 10.30am – 5.30pm & Friday 9.00am -4.30pm

SAVE OUR BUSES: there may be cuts to the 342, 340 and 341 and cuts to Dial a Ride and the Community bus, this will have an impact on people who rely on the buses for work and others who need to go to the Conquest or surgeries in Rye and shopping. There are petition cards and an online consultation paper or you can hand in any piece of paper with your comments on before 28th September. It is imperative that you have your say, as when the buses are gone that will be it. Libraries have the consultation papers too, send your comments to Carl Maynard our County Councillor at East Sussex County Council ASAP.

Sad Losses: It has been a sad time for people in our community, First Ken Evans passed away then on Wednesday 27 both Bob Langrish and Keith Dalrymple had their funerals, then on 28th ‘Don’ Gordon Price also passed away. All of these Considerate, gentle and helpful men will be very much missed by their family friends and colleagues and the wider community. All have lived in the area for some considerable time and made many friends some of whom have also passed on. Don’s family are having a service to celebrate his life on Friday September 19 at 3.30pm in St George’s Brede, If you knew Don please join the family as you will be very welcome. Please let me know if your loved ones pass on and send me the words you would like to be put into the column. As many of us know each other in the community, some find it sad if they cannot pay their last respect to their neighbours and friends when they find out too late and they are upset. Perhaps I can help put that right, as I know it is hard to contact everyone at a difficult time.
