Friday June 28 Brede Farmers Market 10 – 12noon. Brede School Sports Day this afternoon in the Recreation Ground. In the evening Local Heroes (soft rock and country) will be playing at the Rainbow Trout Brede Short Mat Bowlers meet 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall.

Saturday June 29 If you fancy a coffee out or join friends this morning why not go to Hillside Brede (next to the church) where you will receive a warm welcome. The Friends of St George are offering cream teas, a cake stall and knick knacks for sale and would appreciate your support. They are open between 10am – 12noon. There will be a village dance (ballroom and sequence) in the Village Hall at 7.30pm. Sunday June 30 9.30am sung Eucharist at St George’s Brede, Evening Prayer 6pm. My apologies; to the Trinity Methodists for putting in the wrong preacher last week. This week it is the Church’s Anniversary Service and Holy Communion. The Reverend Ian Pruden will be the preacher; this will be followed by a bring and share lunch, all are welcome. Brede Cricketers are playing against Northiam in the Recreation Ground at 2pm. In the Rainbow Trout this afternoon 4pm –6pm MT Vessels are the entertainment

Monday July 1 Age UK Daycare meet at 10.30am in Brede Village Hall, they will have News and a quiz in the afternoon and the dart board will be out as will the table tennis. Ring Maureen 01424 883282 if you wish to Join, or be a volunteer. Rainbows meet In the Small Hall at 4pm, and Brownies at 5.30pm. In the Main Hall at 7.30 the cards will be out for the Whist Players. At 5.30pm Beavers begin in the Scout Hut followed by Cubs at 6.30pm. Tuesday July 2 at 9.30am there will be Painting for Pleasure and I am sure it is as they give so much pleasure to the people who see their works of art in the Village Hall.

Wednesday July 3, the Brede Mother’s Union meet in Udimore Village Hall for a Strawberry Tea at 2.30pm. To book the Hall contact Cherry Merricks 07761 730956. The Rainbow Trout’s quiz night begins at 8pm.

Thursday July Sally 4 heads Stretch and Tone at 9.30am in Brede Village Hall. In Alexandra Park Hastings in the evening at about 6pm the gates open for The Battle of the Proms. The 130-strong Hastings Big Choir; will be supported by a brass band and Francis on the piano. They will sing many popular songs throughout the evening some for people to join in and some to wave their flags and feel patriotic. It is a wonderful evening, buy your ticket soon as it rises from £15 before the event to £20 on the day. Friday July 5 Brede Farmers Market fills the Village Hall with all manner of meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, crafts, plants, dairy and bakery. Open 10 – 12noon. Also in the Hall but later at 7.30pm Brede’s Short Mat Bowlers meet, they would like more members, just turn up.

The Community Hall is looking so much better with its’ new bookshelves and books on display, they can be borrowed when the hall is open. To book contact Lesley Bannister 01424 882800 she is also the Parish Clerk.

Advance Notice Sunday July 14 2.30pm –5pm 2, Bellhurst Cottages mature garden is open to the public. It’s £2 entrance, children free, cream teas available. Entrance is via the gate attached to the red brick wall at the far side of number 3, come and meet Chocolate, Fudge and Milky bar and our six young chickens, there is also a small children’s play area.
