Brede Crafters’ Craft Fair this year is next Saturday, November 17, in the Village Hall from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm. A wide variety of items will be available including glassware, Christmas cards and fancy items, cakes, and much more as well as a tombola.

There is still time to book your place for the Six O’Clock Club visit to the Village Hall on Thursday, November 22, for another evening of popular operatic items given by Cameo Opera. Brede Church Bellringers are once again erecting a Christmas tree outside the church at the beginning of December to coincide with the Church’s Christmas Tree Festival. If you would like to donate £1.00 and dedicate a light in memory of a loved one or for a special occasion please put your name and dedication in an envelope and drop it in to Andrew Burchett, Alexandra Cottage, Stubb Lane, Brede, TN31 6EJ or give to any of the bellringers. You may also make donations at the Friday Farmers’ Market on the apple stall or at the Christmas Tree Festival on December 8 and 9. The proceeds this year are being shared between the Church for Christmas lighting costs and the repair fund for the church clock which was installed about 200 years ago and is a rather unusual timepiece. The clock has been working continuously all these years but the chiming mechanism has had to be stopped for the time being until repairs can be carried out costing around £5,300. So far nearly £2,000 has been raised. A list of dedications will be put up on the church noticeboard and the sum raised will be given in the Parish magazine in the New Year.

The new year for the Champions of Brede Village Hall supporters’ fund is about to start and subscriptions are due by December 1 at £12 per year. Alternative methods of payment are being arranged such as standing order or on-line transfer but subscriptions can be paid at the Farmers’ Market on Fridays during November. Please contact Nita Franklin on 01424-882095 or Phil Romani on 01424-883420 for the necessary forms if you would like to pay by one of these other methods.
