Brede Village voice

One of the regular fixtures at the Village Hall is Age Concern’s Day Care Service which continues on Mondays from 10.30 am, providing a programme of activities for the over 50’s, some social events, information and advice, etc.

This coming Monday there is an invitation to anyone to drop in for the “Stay Well, Stay Safe in your Own Home” presentation. Come and meet the professionals and listen to a short presentation by Sarah Winnington on fuel poverty.

The talk, etc. will start at 1.30 pm during the normal Age Concern programme. Full details can be obtained from Maureen Distin on 01424-883282.

Brede & Udimore Luncheon Club’s regular monthly Lunch is in the Village Hall next Tuesday, 26th, at 12.30 pm.

The Club always welcomes new members, but if their membership is full then they will keep your name on file for as soon as a vacancy occurs. For details please contact the Club Secretary, Frances Parham on 01424-882007. Brede Crafters monthly meeting will be held in the Village Hall on Wednesday, 27th, at 2.00 pm.

Etchingham Military and Aviation Preservation Group returns to the Village Hall next Saturday, 30th, with their Exhibition of Military items ranging from badges, uniforms and weapons to pictures mainly associated with the South East of England.

Some vehicles will also be on show. The items cover all the services including the civilian services.

The Exhibition opens at 10am and goes on until 4pm, admission £2 (accompanied children free).

This is a very interesting display and appeals to all ages.

Also next Saturday, 30th, the “Brainwave” charity that raises money to purchase specialized equipment for babies and children needing brain surgery, will be holding a Coffee and Craft Morning at Northiam Village Hall from 10am to 2pm (admission by donation) and Brede & Udimore Missionary Group also have a Coffee Morning from 10 am until noon at the new Udimore Community Hall. The usual variety of stalls will be there. Proceeds go towards the four charities that the Group supports.

A novelty item being put on by the Red Lion is the Chutney Challenge Competition on Sunday, 31st, at 4.30 pm.

The categories include chutney, pickled egg, pickled onions, piccalilli, jam or your own personal concoction or favourite.

The entries must be home-made by you. Entries are free but must be registered by Saturday, 30th, by calling 01424-882188. Donations in aid of St. Michael’s Hospice would be appreciated.

Tables can be booked for the next Quiz Night at Brede that will be on Saturday, 13th November in aid of the RSPCA Wildlife Centre at Fairlight.

Tickets are £7.50 including supper and tables can be booked by contacting Elaine Crouch on 01424-883445. The Six O’Clock Club’s Cameo Opera makes another appearance at the Village Hall on Thursday, 18th November at 7.00 for 7.30 pm.

Tickets are £10 each, bring your own food, and as usual there will be a competition for the best dressed table. Tickets available from Penny Dawson on 01424-882263.

This week’s services at St. George’s Church are the Family Eucharist at 9.30 am Sunday, 24th, with Holy Communion on Wednesday, 27th, at 10.00 am.

Trinity Methodist Church continues at Broad Oak this Sunday, 24th, for the usual service at 11.00 am which will be conducted by Mr. B. Turnwell and then at 3.00 pm there is a United Covenant Service with the Revd. Malcolm Hope who will also administer Holy Communion.
