This year’s Flower Festival at St. George’s Church is being held from Saturday, August 25 to Bank Holiday Monday, August 27, and the theme of the festival flowers will be “The Bible in Colour”.

This year’s Flower Festival at St. George’s Church is being held from Saturday, August 25 to Bank Holiday Monday, August 27, and the theme of the festival flowers will be “The Bible in Colour”. Opening times will be from 10.00 am on the Saturday and Monday and 10.30 am on the Sunday. There will be a special Songs of Praise at 5.00 pm on the Sunday. As they have done for a number of years now, Brede Painting for Pleasure Group will be holding their Exhibition of Paintings at the Village Hall on Saturday and Sunday, August 25 and 26, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Paintings will be for sale and refreshments available.

Brede Cricket Club hold their annual Single Wicket competition this Sunday, August 12, starting at 2.00 pm at Broad Oak Recreation Ground. The following Sunday, August 19, they are at home again, this time with Sidley as the visitors, and this is also a 2.00 pm start.

Rehearsals for Brede Players’ next production begin in September. They will be presenting “Robinson Crusoe” at the Village Hall on January 11 and 12 and the auditions will be taking place on Thursday, August 30, at 7.30 pm in St. George’s Church. New members are always welcome whether for acting parts or behind the scenes jobs. If you have any surplus paint lying around that you do not want they would like to take it off your hands to be used on creating some more scenery. Services at St. George’s Church during the coming week are a Family Eucharist at 9.30 am on Sunday, August 12, with Holy Communion on Wednesday, August 15, at 10.00 am and on Friday, 17, and Saturday, 18, at 9.00 am.. The next Messy Church is being held on Wednesday, August 15, at Camber Sands. Families should gather in the car park of St. Thomas’ Church, Camber at 2.00 pm. The Mothers’ Union members will be travelling to London on Thursday, August 16, for a tour of their founder’s house, Mary Sumner.

Trinity Church continues at Broad Oak this Sunday, August 12, with their usual 10.30 am service which this week will be conducted by Mrs. Gillian Lambourne..

Monday, 13: Age UK (10.30 am), Whist Drive (7.30 pm); Tuesday, 14: Painting for Pleasure (9.30 am); Friday, 17: Farmers’ Market (10.00 am), Short Mat Bowls (7.30 pm).
