Bridgeview Stars' European Success

LEWES Bridgeview U10 s returned from Reims in France after a successful weekend where they only lost one game in nine.

The seven-a-side competition included teams from Belgium, Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, and also several top French professional clubs which included Nantes, Montpelier, FC Metz, and Stade de Reims.

The competition presented an ideal opportunity for the club and players to measure their progress against teams from other countries.

On the opening day Bridegeviewwon their first two games convincingly 5-0 and 6-0 against FC Rilly La Montagne and Stresovice (Czech Republic). In the third group game Bridgeview met the hosts Ste Anne and drew 0-0 in a game which they dominated and unfortunately lost key player Simon Hunt through injury for the rest of the tournament.

View then disappointed in their next game as they suffered their only defeat going down 2-1 to Lambersart.

The final game on the first day saw their best game as they drew 1-1 with Paris FC who are one of the nursery clubs for Paris St Germain.

On the second day the team remained unbeaten winning 5-0 and 2-0 against Colmontrevil and Marcq en Baroeuil and drawing 0-0 with both Murigny and professional club FC Metz.

Overall the weekend was a success and all 48 teams took part in a grand parade before watching Les Lilas beat Montpelier on penalties in the championship final.
