Brighton hotel fire was 'deliberate'

A blaze at a Brighton seafront hotel is being treated as deliberate following an investigation by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

Eight fire engines were called out at 7.12pm last night (June 4), to the Royal Albion Hotel. Old Steine, following reports of a fire on the fifth floor.

Police and paramedics were also called to the scene.

The fire service said one person was rescued from the hotel, and was treated by paramedics.

An investigation has taken place today (June 5), and a fire service spokesperson said: "It is believed the fire was started deliberately. No further comment will be made at this stage."
