The team of 32, including students from Sussex University and Brighton University, will attempt the trek on February 8 in aid of the Dig Deep charity.

Part of the team completed the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours in November 2019, scaling Mount Snowdon, Cadair Idris, and Pen y Fan - the highest peaks in Wales.

Following the trek from Westminster, the team will attempt to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in August this year.

Proceeds from the challenges will support Dig Deep, a charity providing access to water and sanitation in parts of Kenya by building taps, toilets and providing hygiene training.

Team leader Brandon Greenwood said: “As a team we are fundraising throughout the year, with the aim of raising over £38,000.

“On top of these mammoth challenges we are doing lots of bake sales, raffles and other events.

“We are currently looking to raise sponsorship with a corporate banner, which we will take on our challenges and all the way to the top of Kilimanjaro this summer.”
