Brighton '˜second most expensive city' for families

Research has revealed that Brighton is the second most expensive city in the UK for families, based on the price of a three-bedroom house.

MoneySupermarket, a price comparison website, analysed house prices in the 30 most populated cities in the UK.

It said Brighton was ranked second to London when it came to expensive property prices, with a three bedroom home averaging £732,495.

London’s average property price was estimated to be £1.98m, according to MoneySupermarket.

Bradford, Belfast and Leeds were the cheapest cities to live in, the research found, where a three-bedroom house was £95,000, £139,975 and £142,475 respectively.

The price estimates were based on an average property prices on flats and houses for sale and to rent currently available in the city centre on Zoopla and RightMove in July 2017.

Kevin Pratt, consumer affairs expert at MoneySuperMarket, said: “It’s astonishing to see the huge disparities in property prices for renters and buyers in the UK.”

Moneysupermarket has created an interactive tool that allows users to enter the amount their current property is worth, and compare it to other cities across the UK.
