In September a group of police officers, including some from Bexhill’s Neighbourhood Team, executed a drug warrant at the address in Barnhorn Road, where they were met by a set of “formidable” reinforced internal doors.

Once inside however they found more than 300 cannabis plants and 325 seedlings.

It is believed this factory had an annual financial yield of more than £40,000.

DC Carol Shoesmith of Rother CID said: “This case sends out a strong signal that police will deal robustly with those producing illicit drugs in our community.

“The sentence of Mr Mellody will act as a strong deterrent to anyone considering producing drugs within Rother and Sussex.”
