Builder completes 54-mile bike ride on 1920's bike

A HAILSHAM builder completed the London to Brighton charity bike ride on a 1920s police bike, complete with its original flashing blue light.

Glyn Croxton, 53, from Station Road, also donned a policeman's helmet and uniform for the 54-mile event and raised 250 for the British Heart Foundation.

He told the Express: 'My work colleagues said I wouldn't make it on that bike but I did.

'It runs so nicely and considering how many people must have used it in the past, I thought it'd be nice ride it in the London to Brighton.

'I had one puncture because someone went into the back of me and the mudguard cut the tyre and it wasn't easy sorting that out, but by hook or crook I managed it.'

Mr Croxton thanked Hailsham police the loan of the helmet.
