Building plans for historic home

A bid to change a historic house in Bognor Regis into three maisonettes has been approved.

Arun District Council's development control committee agreed to the proposal by John Salt for 104 Highfield Road. The councillors granted listed building consent to enable the one bed, two bed and three bed properties to be created.

The building dates from the mid-18th century.

Three letters of objection to the scheme were received by Arun. Residents were concerned about the impact on the building's heritage and the effect of the proposed access on parking in the crowded streets.

But councillors were told by their planning officers the changes to the building were sympathetic to its character.
