BUILDING work has started on Uckfield’s new Meads Medical Centre. When finished it aims to provide healthcare services via a new, state-of-the-art primary care medical centre at West Park with its own pharmacy.
The 10,400 sq ft, mainly two-storey building is in landscaped grounds and has 35 car-parking spaces to make visits easier for patients. It’s being developed by MedicX, a UK investor and developer of healthcare premises and is expected to be finished next March. The GP practice of Dr Walbrook and partners, currently in Grange Road, will be located there.
Dr Emma Walbrook, Meads’ senior partner said: “I am very excited about our new premises and the fantastic facilities they will offer. As a mainly rural community, providing a medical centre that can be reached easily by car and public transport is important. This new centre has been long awaited by local people and it’s great to see construction beginning.”
