Battle Abbey Students celebrate good results at A Level

Roger Clark, who is retiring this month after 15 years at the school, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with a bumper crop of top results at A Level this year with more pupils than ever going on to Oxford and Cambridge.

“59 percent of all candidates achieved A* to B grade with an overall pass rate of 96 percent.

“76 percent of all pupils achieved A*-C grades across the board.

“Particular mention should go to Danielle Edmunds who achieved three A* grades, and has a place to study Biological Science at Oxford.

“Lily Lindon who’s three A* grades will enable her to go on to study English at Cambridge, and Joanna Hartnell who achieved three A* grades and will be going on to study Civil Engineering at Surrey.

“Taylor Chu and James Mcintyre were among other star candidates who achieved no lower than an A grade in all their subjects.

“These are really good A Level results and are a great credit to pupils and parents but not least the teachers who, with enthusiasm and skill, have once again drawn the very best out of our pupils.”

David Clark, who takes up the position of head in September, said; “I am delighted.

“From what Roger tells me the boys and girls have worked consistently throughout their time in the sixth form and deserve the excellent grades achieved.

“They have ensured that Roger’s last year at Battle Abbey School has once again been a success and I’m looking forward to building on these strong results in the coming academic year.’”

Meanwhile Battle students also performed well at Bexhill College.

Initial indications are that Bexhill College’s A Level pass rate for this academic year stand at around 98 percent.

The college had more than 1,050 A Level entries this summer in 45 subjects and they achieved more than 74 percent A* to C with 44 percent of the passes awarded the top A*, A or B grades.

In all, 34 of these subjects achieved a 100 percent pass rate, including Chemistry, Biology, English Literature and Geography.

Bexhill College also offers a range of vocational qualifications,with many students achieving triple distinction stars in their BTEC Extended Diplomas, including Sports Science, Performing Arts, Health and Social Care and Public Services.
