Bungee jump at Row4Charity fun day

Fancy a fun day out? How about a bit of bungee jumping?

You might not be ready to row the Indian Ocean or run the Hastings half-marathon but if a good time is a distinct possibility then Row4Charity need your support.

A family event is being held at Bexhill College on Saturday March 21 from midday onwards - the highlight of which is the opportunity to fling yourself off something high.

Those of you daring or daft enough to bungee jump in aid of the Stroke Association are invited to do it in perfect safety - a specialist company with a hydraulic platform and expert instructors will supervise jumping from a height of 135 feet.

There are limited numbers available so don't delay if you want to take a rare opportunity to experience a unique adrenalin rush.

The cost per jump is 50 but if for those who raise 75 sponsorship the jump is free.

There is also an extra free jump to the person who raises the most in sponsorship.

Other stalls and refreshments will be available to suit all ages and abilities, including a football game where would-be Ronaldos can test their skill and a golf game for the Tiger Woods amongst us.

To book a jump and request a sponsorship form please contact Row4Charity by email [email protected] or call 07720999313.

The four man Row4Charity crew will soon leave to prepare for their race in the Bexhill Trust Challenger but to send them off in style a firework display will be held in front of the De La Warr Pavilion that evening (Saturday March 21).

A farewell party will begin at 7.30pm and the firework show, organised by team dad Steve McCorry, will happen around 9pm. There will be no charge but organisers hope members of the public will donate towards the cost when the collection bucket passes by.

Meanwhile a successful event was held at the Waterfront Club in aid of Row4Charity by owners Jackie and Paul Hamilton who hosted a race night to raise both awareness and funds for the Stroke Association.

Eight races plus an auction race were held and the team had high expectations of raising 1000 during the night but such was the success of the evening that after expenses over 1500 was raised.

The event and generosity of friends, family and supporters meant each race that was sponsored for 25 each was sold twice over and every horse was purchased for 5 each.

Row4Charity would like to say a big thank you to Jackie and Paul for hosting the event and making it so successful.

They have been supporters since the beginning and have helped with the fundraising and everything the team has attempted.

Their staff were also involved and made sure the evening went without a hitch.

Row4Charity would also like to thank the race sponsors, The Retreat Hair Salon, South Coast Sports Supplies, Ashdown Hurrey, Firework Connections, The Curtain Company, Bexhill Hearing Centre, ATC Decorators, Kaleidodesign, Go Walkabout Travel Insurance, Booker & Best, Select Taxis, The Wilson Bakery, Peter Johnson Auto Repairs, C Wells & Sons Shoes & G Matthews Butchers.

A special thanks to Dave Knoll of Hastings Printers for producing the race cards at no charge.

A Tri-cast was held on the seventh race and the 100 prize was won by Paul Chibnall of Booker & Best who donated 40 back to the fund.
