Burgess Hill angler found dead in river

A BURGESS Hill angler, who had been out fishing alone, is believed to have lost his footing and drowned after he fell into the river.

Robin Wallis (63) of St Andrews Road, Burgess Hill,had been fishing at the River Adur near Wineham on Monday.It is thought Mr Wallis lost his footing and drowned after slipping into the water.

He was reported missing on Monday evening after relatives were concerned about him not returning home.

His fishing tackle and van were found and police divers eventually found his body in the river about 45 ft from where he had been fishing.

A post morten is being held and an inquest will held at a date to be fixed.
