A burglar who broke into a house in Clinton Crescent, St Leonards, stole the keys to a car parked outside and drove it away.

The theft occurred between 8.30pm on Wednesday (May 27) and 6.30am yesterday (Thursday, May 28).

It is thought the thief may have entered through an insecure rear door.

Keys were removed from a hall table and the intruder made off in a dark blue W-registered Suzuki Wagon which has a distinctive dent in the front nearside wing.

The vehicle’s owner, a 73-year-old woman, only became aware of the theft when she noticed it was no longer parked on the driveway the next day.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious or who may know the whereabouts of the car is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 1389 of 28/5.

Alternatively they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers without having to leave their name on 0800 555 111.
