Burglars struck whilst victim was at home

Just after 1.05pm on Wednesday May 2, the man heard the doorbell ring, but chose to ignore it.

Five minutes later, he heard a bang and looked outside to see two men walking away from the Henley Down property.

It was later discovered that £30 had gone missing from a wallet downstairs.

A short time later, at around 1.20pm, the man heard another thud and looked outside to see the same men outside the property.

He knocked on the window and they fled.

The first suspect is described as a white man, 5’10” to 6’ tall, of slight build and with short dark brown hair.

He had a thin face, prominent nose and was clean shaven with a five o’clock shadow.

He was wearing a blue T-shirt with thick dark and light blue stripes.

The second man is also described as white, 5’10” to 6’ tall, with mousey brown hair and a rounded face

He was wearing a brown coloured T-shirt.

It is believed the pair may have left the scene in a turquoise hatchback car with a silver trim.

Police say the men may have got into the property via an insecure door.

PC Jayne Cleverley said: “This crime seems to have been committed by opportunist thieves who saw an insecure property and decided to take advantage.

“I would like to express the importance of ensuring your windows and doors are locked even if you are just upstairs or out in the garden.

“It only takes a minute for an opportunistic thief to find a weakness and exploit it.
