Christmas Tree festival: The lovely St Bartholomew’s Church Christmas Tree festival will take place this weekend. The local clubs and societies and the classes of the Primary school have spent weeks preparing for this event and have decorated their trees in the church for you to enjoy. The preview evening is tonight from 7pm. Entrance is £5 and includes mulled wine and mince pies. Tomorrow it will be open from 10am to 4 pm with free entry and includes refreshments a raffle and produce stall. On Sunday it will be open from 11am to 5pm with refreshments and a raffle and will finish with informal carols. You are all very welcome to go along.

Bazaar: Tomorrow afternoon the Church of Christ the King will be holding their annual Christmas bazaar. This is always a great event with good quality items, a raffle, cakes, gifts refreshments a children’s corner and so much more. The fun begins at 2.15pm in the Burwash village hall, entrance is 50p. A great time to pick up that forgot present or just to enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Bingo: The Christmas charity bingo is being held on Sunday afternoon in the Burwash village hall from 2pm. Prizes include two great hampers, wine, chocolates home made Christmas and Dundee cakes, Christmassy things, more chocolates, and much more. Entrance is free, bingo books £1 each for 12 games 24 chances to win. A big raffle will also be held and home made refreshments during the interval. All the proceeds will go to the Christmas Day lunch for those who will be on their own. For more information or to donate prizes please call Mary on 01435 882107. Toy Service: St Bartholomew’s church invite you all to join them for their annual Toy & Crib service, for The Chichester Diocesan Association for Family Support work, which will take place on Sunday morning at 10am. During the service toys and cash donations will be collected for families who need the support of a worthwhile charity. New toys will go to those families who unfortunately find Christmas and birthdays very stressful time. Good second hand toys are added to the charity’s resources for their work with children throughout the year. During the service the children will be invited to take their gift of toys up to the crib.

Meeting: The next meeting of the Burwash Common and Weald Residents association will take place on Monday evening in the Pavilion at Burwash Common. The meeting will focus on the Neighbourhood plan. If you live in either of these two lovely villages and are interested in what is happening in them then you are very welcome to attend the meeting. If you wish to join the association membership is £5 per household.

Bateman’s: Christmas fun at Bateman’s has started in the Elves workshop. The house has been decorated with all the sights, sounds and scents of a traditional Edwardian Christmas, plus a special trail for the children leads to the Elves workshop at the bottom of the garden in the watermill. Take a sneak look at their toys, workbench and naughty and nice list and the elf and safety rules while they are out. Normal admission plus £1.50 for the trail. Woin a jungle book medal and start a collection, there are six altogether. The Elves trail is open until 23rd December and the house will be decorated until 31st. Both open at 11.30am. until 3pm. The Mulberry Restaurant will be open and the gift shop.
