MUSIC: Tonight, Friday, it is music night at the Pavilion in Burwash Common. These open mic nights are a chance for local singers and musicians to have a great time entertaining an audience. If you would like to have ago why not go along, or maybe you enjoy a good musical evening with friends then why no go along and watch. The fun begins at 8pm and the licenced bar will be open.

CHRISTINGLE: St Bartholomew’s Church are holding their Christingle service this weekend and invite you to go along on Saturday from 2pm to help make the Christingle for everyone to take home from the service. They invite you to Come Along and Get Sticky experience. Fancy biscuits and juice to add to the fun. This invitation is open to young and old alike. The service will take place on Sunday at 4pm. QUIZ: The planned quiz by the short mat bowls club for tomorrow, Saturday, evening has been cancelled due to illness and lack of entries. We thank those who did book a table and apologise for the disappointment. We may be back next year. Thanks also to Steve Bennett and Terry Parker for their offer as quiz masters.

WALK: The next walk for strollers will take place on Wednesday morning. These walks are led by Ijon Jenner who would be delighted to have you join him. They will meet at the Bear car park for 9am leave and will take a gentle stroll around the network of footpaths and roads of our lovely villages. You are all very welcome to go along.

FESTIVE EVENING: The village will be holding its festive and late night shopping evening on Wednesday. The fun begins at 4pm. There will be stalls of all kinds in the Bear, the Guides and Brownies will again host Santa’s Grotto in the garden at Cheriton, the Scout Hut will be open with hot drinks, soup, chocolate bags and cakes. A raffle which will include tickets to a West End theatre and a trip to Drusillas. Marco the Magician will also be with them. Hot food and real reindeer will be around and a new venture by the parish council are the lights on the trees along the High Street. These will be turned on by a local celebrity at 6pm. All the shops and many businesses will be open. We look forward to seeing you all there.

WHIST: The Christmas Whist Drive will take place on Thursday evening at Burwash Village Hall from 7pm. These fun evenings are open for players of all ability and the key word is fun. Entry is £3 and includes 20 hands of cards and light refreshments. There is also a raffle. Prizes are awarded to the lady and gentleman who have the highest and second highest score and the lowest. We look forward to seeing you all there.

BOWLS: Burwash Bowls Club are enjoying playing for two of their trophies at the moment. The Ladies Presidents Cup and the Mary Groombridge men’s singles trophy. Both are being played on Monday evenings with some unusual results. It is anyone’s game. They had a very enjoyable friendly match at home to Hurst Green. After six games the match ended in a draw. Then last Saturday players Wayne Reed and Mary Taylor travelled with the County B Team to a match in Essex and were pleased the team clocked up their first win of the season.
