Burwash

Coffee: Last Friday Burwash hosted two Macmillan coffee mornings. The first was held by the children of the Buzzy Bees pre-school in the Swan Meadow Pavilion where they raised over £100. The other was held in the Scout hut in the Bear car park organised by Margaret porter and friends and raised over £280 Well done to them both and thank you to everyone who went along to support them. Such a worthy cause.

Harvest: Tomorrow evening the annual harvest supper will take place at the Burwash village hall. This is always a great evening of delicious food and lively entertainment. The ladies of St Bartholomew’s church work hard to give everyone a good time. If you would like to join us tickets are £7.50 each and can be bought from Londis or you can call Vicky Patterson on 01435 884135 to get/reserve a ticket.

Harvest: Services for harvest will take place in St Bartholomew’s and St Philip’s Churches on Sunday. The one is St Bartholomew’s will be a family service and starts at 10am. St Philip’s will also have a family service and start at 10.30am. You are all very welcome to go along to either of these services.

Bowls: The Burwash Short mat bowls club have already enjoyed a couple of friendly games against Chiddingly and Horam. This Sunday they begin their league division two games with an away match to Rotherfield. the club is looking for new players to come and join us. This game is one that people of all ages and physical abilities can enjoy. You play at you own level be it just Monday club night or in friendly, league or county level. Existing members will be happy to welcome you and show you how to play and equipment can be borrowed. Yearly subs are £20 and nightly mat fees are £2. If you think this is the sport for you then why not give Mary Taylor a call or come along any time from 6.30pm on a Monday evening.

Love Burwash: Next Saturday , 10th October,the Parish council have organised a love Burwash project. They are looking for teams of volunteers to help clean up the Parish. Some of the work that would be done includes washing the street signs, picking up litter, weeding and planting bulbs. The lime trees on the high street have already been pollarded which will help keep the footpath free of falling leaves this winter. The grass verges around the trees need some love and a mower. Quiz: The new postal quiz is available at £2 a copy for 100 questions. This time the theme is food, main courses and desserts and all are in anagram form. The proceeds will be given to the annual Get Together Christmas lunch that is organised by a very hard working group of local people for the senior members of our communities. The closing date for the quiz is 7th December. Please help me raise funds for this great cause by sending £2 and a stamped addressed envelope to Mary Taylor, 2 Holton Cottages, Spring Lane, Burwash TN19 7HU,. Thank you.
