Quiz: There are still some spaces for the village hall quiz evening tomorrow Saturday. Teams of six players are invited to join us. Our friendly quiz masters Steve Bennett and Terry Parker will be taking control, ah but who will take control of them I hear you ask. As always they will make it a really fun event. Bowls: The members of the Burwash Short mat bowls club will be back after their summer break on Monday evening. They meet every Monday (except bank holidays) from 6.30 to 9.30pm in the Burwash village hall. This fun, social sport is for all ages and all abilities. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The members will be pleased to welcome you and will show you how to play this great game. You will be able to borrow equipment ,all you need are flat smooth shoes or stockinged feet. Weekly mat fees are £2, £3 for match nights. Slimming: The new session of the Community weight loss challenge begins on Tuesday. THese enjoyable meetings help with nutricianal advice, group support and have a great success rate. Sue Tonkin is the lady who will guide us through the dietry pitfalls to a new you. To find out more about the group and location please call Sue on 01892 784741.

Service: On Sunday there is to be a very special Pet Service in St Philip’s church , Burwash Common. The service is at 10.30am and you are welcome to take any and all types of pet along. What a wonderful idea, I am sure it will be quite an enjoyable if not noisy service.

Magician: Last Saturday Bertie the Magician entertained young and old at the village hall, with lots of audience participation. I understand this was yet a again a really enjoyable event and each child went home with a balloon animal. Delicious home made cakes were served for refreshments and everyone said it had been a lovely afternoon. Thank you to all who attended, £266.60 was made for the village hall window fund.

Fair: The weather was not our friend last Monday morning as we all tried to set up our gazebos and marquees ready for the 1pm opening. The heavens opened and gave us such a deluge, but everyone just kept on working. The rain eased off and the crowds turned out for the opening. by 2pm there was a really good crowd who had a lot of fun despite more rain. Thank you to everyone who manned the stalls, and those who enjoyed them. The music by cream of Hendrix experience was really good, lots of foot tapping and bopping behind our stall. The fun dog show got a lot of entries with a wide variety of breeds, size and colour. Well done to the organisers on yet another successful event.
