Burwash

Apologies: Unfortunately I have been unable to write this column since the middle of December. My laptop died on me so I borrowed my Dad’s and proceeded to make his sick too. I now have a proper office computer thanks to my lovely son so I am hoping no more problems. So I am really sorry if anything you were planning for Christmas and the New Year was not given the notice you would have liked. I hope that all your events went well, and that you all had a great Christmas. I wish you all a really good 2015.

Reports: Charity Bingo Thank you to all the generous people who gave some of the amazing prizes for the Christmas bingo. We were overwhelmed by the number given. Thank you also to everyone who came along and supported the event. Both adults and children joined in with nearly everyone winning a game or a raffle prize. My very grateful thanks to all those who helped on the day, and to 11 year jasmine Birch for making the delicious mince pies. We made a total profit of £208 towards the Christmas day lunch for those on their own.

Lunches: So many different lunch parties took place before Christmas including the annual get together lunch which is funded and run by a wonderful band of volunteers. They raise funds through the year then with the aid of the staff at the Bear Motel provide and serve a three course lunch to over 100 seniors members of our three villages. There is always a terrific raffle which this year made over £440 toward next years lumch. Thank you to everyone who gives up their time to do this every year and the Bear for allowing it to be held there.
