Quiz: Tonight is quiz night at the Pavilion in Burwash common. These monthly quizzes are good fun and can be joined by us all. teams of six are welcome to go along to give the grey matter a workout. Theatre: Animals and Anecdotes is the topic of International One Man theatre Brian D. Barnes next production. This is a specially written show being performed tomorrow evening in Burwash Village hall. Brian is a popular figure in Burwash and has the most remarkable memory. He performs alone but somehow managed to bring to life all the the characters on each show. Tickets are available from The Burwash Newsagents at £12 for adults and £6 for students and children. Refreshments will be available too. The curtain goes up at 7.30pm.

Volunteers needed: Tomorrow morning volunteers are being invited to go along to the St Bartholomews churchyard and help tidy it for the winter and in time for the Rememberance Sunday Service. From 9am you are welcome to join them with your garden tools and trugs & wheelbarrows to clip and rake and generally help to make the church yard a place to be proud of.

Remember: The annual Royal British Legion service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday morning. It will begin with the parade which will leave the Bear car park at 10.45am. The band will be joined by members of Royal British Legion, the local fire service, the local scouts and guides and ex service man and women. There will be a laying of wreaths at the memorial followed by a service in St Bartholomews church. After the service the parade will reassemble and march back to the car park. A service will also be held at St Philips Church in Burwash Common.

BLG: The members of the Burwash Ladies group will meet today at the burwash village hall. The first part of the meeting will be their AGM and this will be followed byMichaela Wynne-Jones and her demonstration, The Magic of Scarf Tying. New members and visitors are always welcome to join the ladies, who meet at 2.15pm. A welcome cuppa will end the afternoon.

Soup: Another of the popular soup lunches is being held on Thursday at the Burwash village hall. Entry is £7.50 for which you can try as many of the delicious homemade soups and desserts as you like. There will be at least seven different flavours of soup served with croutons & french bread. At least 8 desserts, some of them hot, will also be available. Christmas Trees: Don’t forget if you wish to order your Christmas tree through St Bartholomew’s Church your order needs to be in by Wednesday. The trees range in size & price from 4ft 6ins up. Bowls: The Burwash short mat bowls club enjoyed a great win in the latest of their Wealden league matches, when they played at home to Hailsham Quintins. In the triples Angela & Keith marden and Gavin Wood won 22-7, while Joan Howard, Irene Bell & Margaret Waterhouse won 23- 12. After the tea break pairs Julie Hawkins and Keith Wood won 16-7 and Alan Green and mary Taylor also won 15.12. This gives Burwash eight league points in the Wealden division two table. The team will next play away to Chailey on Tuesday.
