Burwash

In the wild: We have had a quiet time this last week. My cousin’s two grandsons have been here most days as summer camp ended. Unfortunately the oldest one Owen had mumps so we were unable to go anywhere or do much. The weather has continued to be warm and sunny so we could at least sit outside. Allen arrived home on Friday night and yesterday he, Gail & myself went out sightseeing. As they have a four wheel drive half ton truck, most of it was off road or on unmade roads, pretty hairy in places but enjoyable. This is a beautiful province but the wildlife was hiding as we didn’t see a single moose!! The only wildlife was a tiny tree frog we found on the front deck at the house.

Annual Fair: It is 8.30am here and as I write this today back home the final preparations for the annual Bank Holiday fair are frantically being made. I really hope the weather isn’t as bad as it was forecast and that people are brave enough to give the fair a visit. I will write a report next week.

Short Mat Bowls: On Monday the Burwash Short Mat Bowls club will meet for the first time after their summer break. They will meet in the village hall from 6.30pm. New members are always welcome to go along and join them in this sport for all ages. Tuition will be available and equipment can be borrowed. It is 2pound and evening including refreshments and 20pound a year for subscriptions. We are a friendly club and have a lot of fun. For more information please call Keith Marden (chairman) 01580 880534 or John Norton (treasurer) 01435 867979. or email [email protected] Mary Taylor (Secretary).
