Burwash

What a wonderful time we all had at the charity lunch last Sunday. Held at the village hall 44 diners sat down to enjoy a freshly cooked three course lunch. With four choices of starter, five mains and six desserts, there was something for everyone to enjoy. We had a huge raffle for which I give grateful thanks to everyone who donated them. We were entertained by singer Harry, who gave us some great songs from the crooners. My very grateful thanks to the Roth family, Claire, Rhiannon & Werner, Nina Davis, Simon Groombridge & of course my lovely hubby Barry Taylor for all their hard work preparing, serving and clearing away. With donations from people who were unable to attend but wish to support we made over £700 for Aaron’s trip to the World Scout Jamboree. Thank you so much to everyone for making it such a perfect occasion.

Tomorrow the St Bartholomew’s church are holding a Bake off & Bake sale. Entries can be delivered to the church between 10.30pm & 1.30pm. The doors will open at 2pm for visitors. Judging & voting will be from 3pmw ith prize giving and certificates at 3.15pm. The cakes will then be sold off at 3.30pm. Cream teas will be available all afternoon. You are all very welcome to go along and join in the fun.

The Parish footpath walk will take place on Monday morning, leaving the Bear Car Park at 9am. Roger Cloke will guide you around the network of public footpaths, helping to keep them open to all to use and in good repair. Anyone is welcome to join him. The walks usually end back in time for lunch.

The next meeting of the Burwash branch of the Royal British Legion will take place on Monday evening, from 8pm in The Rose & Crown. You do not have to have been in one of the armed forces to be interested in joining the legion or a member of the legion to attend the meting, just an interest in the work they do for our service men & women. Please contact Fred Marshall on 01435 884298 to find out more.
