Burwash

The Burwash Horticultural Society will be holding their annual plant sale tomorrow morning from 10am to 12 noon at Mount House, High Street Burwash. Plants are home grown by Society members and additional plants supplied by Cade Street Nursery. A raffle will be held. You are all welcome to go along to see what is available.

Also tomorrow morning there will be a coffee morning in aid of Admiral Nurses for Dementia care in the home. It is being held at the Pavilion in Burwash Common from 10.30am. £2 entry includes as much coffee and cake as you wish. Donations of raffle prizes, cakes tombola etc as most welcome, All are welcome to go along and support this great cause.

The charity lunch takes place on Sunday when diners will enjoy a freshly cooked three course meal, ending with coffee and mints. Almost fifty people have booked a place and there may well be others available. It costs £18 per person and there will be light entertainment too. Last week I mistakenly told you all that the Burwash common playing field & Pavilion were to hold their AGM. Unfortunately I was wrongly informed and the meeting will in fact take place this Monday from 7.30pm I apologise to anyone who went along to find it was the wrong night. Please do go along on Monday and support the local amenity.

The Burwash Short mat Bowls club will have their last club night on Monday evening before breaking up for the summer and being involved in outdoor bowls and other activities. They will enjoy an evening of bowling with presentation of the Pegeric Cup and the Gavin Wood Salver. The club will be at the Parish assembly on Wednesday so do come along and see them there.

The Burwash Common after eight club will meet on Tuesday when they will visit Farley Farmhouse in Chiddingly at 2.30pm. This group enjoy a wide variety of evenings enjoying each others company and learning new things. They would be delighted for new members to join them. The Burwash Not so Young club will be meeting on Thursday afternoon at the Burwash Village hall. The lively club for the over 60’s is open to everyone. Meet new friends, enjoy interesting talks. Join in the garden party and Christmas lunch. To find out more call Isabel Salmond on 01435 882452.

The Annual Parish assembly will take place on Thursday evening from 6pm until 7.30pm. All residents of burwash Burwash Weald & Burwash Common are welcome to go along. Meet the representatives of the differnt clubs and societies and learn more about how you may be involved. Refreshments will be available. Do you enjoy baking? If so why not join in the fun of the St Bartholomew’s Bake off next Saturday 17 May. It is free to enter, forms are available from Ros Cloke on 01435 884312 or [email protected] Your entries can be left at the Church between 12.30 & 1.30pm. The doors will open at 2.30pm and judging & voting by 3pm. The Bake cake sale from 3.3pm after the prizes & awards. Cream teas will be available all afternoon. Good luck to all the entries.

The class of 1975 -1980 at Robertbridge School are to have a reunion in July and are looking for all ex-class mates to invite them along.
