Burwash

Tonight it is music night at the Pavilion in Burwash Common. Local talented musicians and singers will entertain you. Entry is free and the licenced bar will be open. If you would like to take part and do the entertaining go along and make yourself known. The fun begins at 8pm.

The party on the green at Hornbeam to celebrate St George’s Day, will take place from Mid-day on Sunday. Everyone is welcome to join us. There will be lots of games for children and adults to have a go at, all free. Bring picnic and/or barbecue food, your own seating and enjoy the fun. We are hoping for nice weather to help Last year there was a lot of fun with just a few of us so how much more if there were lots of us. For more details visit the Burwash community facebook page.

The Monday Quilters group invite you to their 5th exhibition of their work. The Patchwork quilt show is on Sunday at the Burwash Village hall from 10am to 4pm. Entrance is £4 which includes refreshments. quilt raffle in aid of St Michael’s Hospice. Do go along and see the beautiful quilts the ladies of Burwash put together.

The Age UK, Burwash lunch club will be meeting at the Bear Motel on Monday from 12 noon. Anyone who is 55 and over is welcome to attend. For £8 you will receive a delicious freshly cooked two course lunch, in congenial company. To book a place please call Jazz Botting on 01435 882033 or Heather Lewis 882080 or Maddie Ashbee 883233. Transport maybe available for those who need it.

The Burwash short mat bowls club will be holding their annual general meeting on Monday evening at 8pm. Club members will play from 6.30pm to coffee time then the mats will be cleared and the meeting will begin. All committee positions are up for election, and it is hoped that all members will be able to make it. The club has been running for 23 years and has had some success with players of all abilities playing at different levels. We are always pleased to welcome new players. No experience necessary at tuition is given. Equipment can be borrowed from the club too. If you are interested in playing why not come along on a Monday evening, or visit our stall at the Parish Annual meeting on the 15th May at the hall.

The monthly whist drive will take place on Thursday at the burwash village hall from 7pm. £3 entry includes 20 hands of cards and light refreshments. A raffle is also held. We are a friendly band of card sharps, or should that be blunts, who enjoy each others company and have a few laughs along the way. If you would like to come along please do. There is to be a three course Sunday lunch at the Burwash Village hall on 11th May, to help raise funds for fourteen year old Aaron Foord, who has been selected as one of just 36 youngsters to attend the World Scout Jamboree in japan in 2016. He has to raise £3,000 so that he can go. The lunch will be freshly cooked and served and is £18 per person, with light entertainment included. Aaron and his family will be their to meet you, and they too are busy fund raising.
